Chris Anderson: it’s a fun idea

February 4, 2008

wired.jpg,,It’s a fun idea”, says Chris Anderson, author of The Long Tail,  about this site. ,,I think the results of the experiment will be entirely determined by the quality and subject matter of the sites”, says Anderson. ,,Which is unpredictable and the numbers are too small to statistically significant. I think it would be much better to do a statistical analysis of a large number of existing niche blogs and adsense clickthrough rates. In other words, it strikes me as a fun exercise, but not science.” How does he like the ideas? ,,Well, they all look very niche! I suspect if the authors are serious about these subjects and can do a good job of keeping them active and on-target, they will find a devoted community of readers and become #1 for their keywords on Google. ”
Such a statistical analysis is a great idea , but also difficult. What exactly is a niche blog?
Chris: ,,Maybe do a survey? Not sure how to define niche but I’ll bet a smart “small world” network link analysis would be the way to go.”
